The agreement between you and VanillaGift when you use this service. Written for clarity rather than legal precision.

What this service is
VanillaGift lets you check the balance, status, and recent transactions of a gift card you legitimately possess. You enter the card details, set a PIN, and the service fetches the balance from the card issuer's system.
VanillaGift is not the issuer of the gift card. We do not load, reload, refund, or modify the balance of any card. We display information about your card; we do not control your card.
Acceptable use
By using VanillaGift, you agree:
- You will only enter card details for cards you own or have explicit authorization to check.
- You will not use the service to test card numbers obtained from any source other than cards in your physical possession.
- You will not attempt to interfere with the operation of the service, including denial-of-service attacks, attempts to bypass rate limits, attempts to evade the PIN lockout, automated scraping, or any other abusive pattern.
- You will not attempt to reverse-engineer, decrypt, or extract data from the service beyond what is offered through the public interface.
Submitting card details that you do not own or are not authorized to check is a violation of these terms and is also likely a violation of applicable computer crime and fraud laws. We cooperate with law enforcement on confirmed abuse.
Account and PIN
VanillaGift does not have user accounts. Each card you check is protected by a PIN you set the first time you check it. You are responsible for keeping the PIN private. If you forget your PIN, we cannot reset it remotely — we do not collect any personal information that would let us verify your identity.
A card that is locked out after 5 wrong PIN attempts can be unlocked only by waiting 15 minutes. After permanent lockouts (rare), contact the card issuer directly with your proof of purchase.
Accuracy of information
We display balance and transaction information as reported by the gift card issuer. We do our best to keep this current, but we cannot guarantee that the information is real-time or error-free. If you spot a discrepancy between what VanillaGift shows and what the issuer reports, the issuer's records are authoritative — contact them directly to resolve.
No warranty
VanillaGift is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the balance shown will always match the issuer's system at the moment you read it.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, VanillaGift and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to lost gift card value, declined transactions at merchants, or any other loss you experience as a result of relying on information displayed by the service.
Our total liability to you for any direct claim arising from your use of VanillaGift is capped at $10 USD.
Card issuer relationship
VanillaGift is an independent service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Vanilla Gift, InComm Payments, Mastercard, Visa, Discover, or any card issuer. All trademarks are the property of their respective owners. References to specific gift card brands describe compatibility, not affiliation.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms over time. When we do, we update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be announced on the homepage for at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after that constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
Termination
We may terminate access to VanillaGift for any user who violates these terms, including but not limited to attempts to abuse the service or submit card details that the user does not own. Termination is enforced at the IP and card-record level.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which VanillaGift is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes that cannot be resolved by good-faith communication will be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction.
